Many may ask what it the SOC? School Options Committee?

In September 2018 a new high school is going to open in Eastern Passage. When that school opens Cole Harbour High school is going to lose between 350 and 400 students. Because of this declining enrollment changes are going to be made to the Auburn High Family of schools and the Cole Harbour Family of Schools. A school review was recommended. A School Options Committee (SOC) made up of parents and community members from the affected schools has been formed.  This SOC will be asking for public input to make proposals for the school review.
While making these decisions the areas that will be looked at are:
Enrollment
Enhanced programing
Need to optimize school space
Age of school and repairs needed.

One of the changes that will be seriously discussed is a change to grade configuration:
Elementary primary to grade 5 Junior high grade 6 to grade 8 High school grade 9 to grade 12.

From now until March 2017 I will be attending weekly meetings along with Jennifer Trimm. Jennifer and I will be your voice at these meetings. There will be public meetings held throughout this process. The date  are:
December 6, 2016 January 24, 2017 February 21, 2017 The time and place to be determined.
