GBES Family Weekly Forecast for September 19th

Good Afternoon Families,

Yesterday, you received an email from the school. A letter attached from Public Health confirmed a person connected to our school has tested positive for COVID-19.  Throughout the past two days, I have been working Public Health to identify staff and students who may have been in close contact with the confirmed case. If your child was a close contact, you would of received an email, with a letter attached providing details about is required. Close contacts of the positive case are required to self-isolate immediately and follow Public Health guidelines if they are not vaccinated (includes all children under 12).  We will continue to work with Public Health to ensure measures are in place to protect the health and safety of all.

Curriculum information was shared with you last week. If you have any questions about what is happening in your child’s classroom, please reach out to their teacher.
This week we will hold a Lockdown Drill. Check out the email I sent out last week for more information.
Our first SAC meeting takes place tomorrow, Monday, September 20 at 6pm followed by the PTO at 7pm. Both meetings will be held virtually.  A link to join the virtual meeting was shared earlier today with those who expressed interest in attending the meetings with the hope of holding future meetings in-person. If you are interested in being a part of the SAC and/or PTO, please email me back and I will share a link to the meeting with you. We need volunteers to serve on both the SAC and PTO.

Milk order forms will go home early this week. Please return these to the office by Monday, September 27, along with the registration form that went home last week.
We are excited to announce that our school will once again be proudly taking part in the 2021 Terry Fox School Run, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 28. The school will participate in an assembly follow by a walk. We hope that we can continue to show the great strength and resiliency of our school community with your support of one of our greatest Canadian heroes, Terry Fox.

Since our first Run in 1984, our school community has raised $19383.36 for cancer research. Let’s all use Terry’s message of hope and strength to inspire us during these challenging times. DONATIONS: If you would like to bring in a donation (not mandatory) for this worthwhile cause. We would like to collect “Toonies for Terry,” but any donation would be gladly accepted. Remember that $0.85 of every dollar goes directly to cancer research of all types. If you wish to donate online, Income Tax Receipts will be issued by the Terry Fox Donation directly to you by e-mail. Go to http://www.terryfox.ca/GeorgeBissettElementary
