George Bissett Elementary

This Week @ GBES March 11-15

Hey GBES Families!
The weather is warming up this week!  After a wet Monday, it looks like sun and slightly above 0’C temperatures.  This will a better week in terms of weather and risk of wind chill.  This week we’re going to need sunglasses!
In the pictures you above, I caught one of the younger students just chilling in the snow.  Sometimes relaxing is the best part of being outside.  There is a change to our reading corner that our students will notice on their next visit to the library.  And finally, we got fancy this week at our Breakfast club.  Our student had fresh fruit in some some classy plasticware.
March Break is from March 18th-March 22nd.
STUDENT SAFETY:  Please remind anyone pickups at dismissal to park on the road and walk to the school.  We do not want cars parked on school grounds to do pick ups at dismissal.  If you need accomodations at dismissal time, please contact us and we will help.
We are currently working on an engagement grant.  It is broad in terms of its scope.  We want to target exposing students to different experiences to engage them in learning outside the classroom.  We asking for a $500 grant per class that could be used for bringing in speakers, or going on fieldtrips ( buses and admission).   If you have any suggestions, please give us feedback through gbes@hrce.ca subject: engagement grant
